This call for application is organised in the framework of the United Fashion Project. The call is for fashion designers interested in expanding to the Latvian market with their Spring-Summer 2019 collection during the Riga Fashion Week, October 23-27, 2018.

Riga Fashion Week

Since 2004, the Riga Fashion Week offers a biannual B2B and B2C week hosting fashion shows, presentations, showroom and see now-buy now activities. It attracts leading Latvian, Estonian and Lithuanian designers as well as some guest designers from Italy, Russia, Ukraine and other countries. It is the biggest and most prestigious fashion event in the Baltics gathering every season more than 10.000 guests and international press including,, Vanity Fair, Schon, Elle, Fashion Channel, etc.

Latvian Fashion Market

Fashion and retail market in Latvia is constantly growing and evolving. Few past years have proven, that there is enough market for several strong concept stores to co-exist along. Customers in Riga tend to wear easy and comfortable ready-to-wear collections with a sparkle of luxury elements, like embroidered streetwear, chic dresses worn with sneakers and oversized trench coats. Main customers are women, age 30+ that love personal touch in shopping and would rather choose something special from a small and evolving brand than just another piece from a well-known luxury fashion house. Instead younger generations would choose sporty bombers and sneakers from local designers.

United Fashion Project

The United Fashion Project is carried out by a cluster of organisations active in the fashion sector in Europe, namely MAD Brussels (BE), Flanders DC (BE), ModaLisboa (PT), Baltic Fashion Federation (LV), Maison de Mode (FR), Fashion Weekend Skopje (MK), Fashion Council Germany (DE) and Not Just A Label (UK). The aim of this project supported by the Creative Europe programme of the EU is to enhance the culture of fashion designers across Europe to be more business minded and at enhancing their competitiveness internationally, without limiting their creativity.
